Getting started

What is Chocon?
Chocon is a safe learning browser for children: approved content lists and learning schedules, managed by parents in the dashboard.
How does Chocon work?
Parents sign in to the dashboard with email, create a child profile if needed, then download Chocon Desktop and pair with the six-character code.
What is the six-character pairing code?
Chocon Desktop shows a pairing code. Parents sign in and enter the code to link the computer to the right child profile.
What device specs are required?
Chocon supports Windows 10/11, macOS 12+, and a dedicated build for older Intel Macs on macOS 10.15. 8GB RAM is recommended.

Safety & privacy

Does Chocon store audio?
No. Chocon does not store audio or conversation content; only minimal signals required to operate and support safety are kept.
Does posture/distance use the camera?
Optionally, if a parent enables it. The camera is used for posture/distance estimation and no video is stored.
Can my child access YouTube?
Yes if parents allow specific channels or pages; Chocon does not open sources outside the approved list by default.
How does Chocon store sign-in information?
Sign-in and device keys are stored in operating-system secure storage such as Keychain on macOS and DPAPI on Windows.

Plans

What’s the difference between Free, Plus, and Pro?
Chocon Desktop keeps the same safety standard across all plans. Free is good for starting; Plus is for families that need flexible schedule changes, deeper reports, and more adults supporting the child; Pro is under research.
What’s different about the beta?
Chocon is currently in Prod Beta: you can continue with email and open the dashboard right away, while some features and UI details may change as we improve the product.
Multiple kids or devices?
Parents can manage multiple child profiles and computers. Each computer is paired with the right family before schedules and approved sources apply.

Common issues

Do I need to change home network settings?
No special network setup is required. Chocon only makes outbound HTTPS connections for sign-in and policy sync.
What if the internet drops?
If the internet drops, Chocon keeps the latest learning rules. When the connection returns, Chocon syncs automatically.
I didn’t receive the sign-in code. What should I do?
Check Spam/Promotions, make sure the email is correct, then resend the code after the cooldown. If it still does not arrive, contact hotro@chocon.net.
